The Role
As Financial Controller, you will:
- Lead, mentor and manage a small finance team across accounts payable, receivable, and administration.
- Own the finance function and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting to the board and senior leadership.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning aligned with operational and commercial goals.
- Provide cost analysis and inventory insights across core product ranges to improve margins and cashflow.
- Partner with the supply chain, distribution, and sales teams to support pricing strategies and procurement planning.
- Optimise the use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O to enhance reporting, automation, and business efficiency.
- Oversee compliance with tax obligations (BAS, GST, PAYG, Payroll Tax), insurance management, and internal controls.
- Manage the financial component of stocktake processes and ensure robust debtor follow-up procedures.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to the CEO and board on risk, opportunity, and business performance.
A commercially driven finance leader with:
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a product-based, trade, or building materials environment.
- Proven experience managing and developing finance teams in fast-moving, hands-on businesses.
- A track record of delivering strong commercial insights and partnering with operations and sales.
- Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
- Tertiary or professional qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a practical approach to driving improvements.
