Our client, a major player in the utility engineering space is focused on embedding a health, safety and wellbeing culture. They have created a new and exciting role for a WHS Specialist to partner with their Leaders in achieving the WHS goals.

This key position will play a pivotal role in transforming their Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy and landscape. Reports to the Head of P & C and frequently interacts with the executive team. Building capability with exposure across a variety of H&S risk profiles including asset management. With operations in NSW and QLD.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with leaders, coaching them and providing them with the tools they need to build the safety culture within their teams.
  • Be strategic and develop holistic inclusive programs whilst also being tactical.
  • Conduct health & safety needs assessments, risk assessments, audits and reviews.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions.
  • Develop control frameworks to enhance safety measures.
  • Project manage to ensure effective implementation of safety initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and review WHS policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks with the support from Senior Management.
  • Maintain understanding of WH&S regulatory and modern law requirements.
  • Facilitate and build on the existing Wellbeing Champion program
The ideal profile:
  • Qualifications in Health and Safety or health or behavioural science; and/or equivalent level of experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a work health and safety role
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of health and safety legislation and understanding current legislation within Australia
  • Experience working with multiple sites and stakeholder groups with competing priorities and timeframes
  • Demonstrated report writing, analysing data and communicating findings/recommendations
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including C Suite level engagement)
