Role

The HR Business Partner will work with Kain’s Lawyers leadership and employees, providing high-level HR support and guidance, delivery of key components of the annual HR business cycle, and transformative people projects   The HRBP will work closely with Team and Technical Leaders and other senior management to ensure that the firm’s human capital strategy aligns with its overall business goals and cultural foundations. This role will oversee a variety of HR functions, including employee relations, talent management, performance management, organisational development, recruitment, workforce planning and reward while fostering a positive work culture that supports employee engagement and retention.

With plans to continue the firm’s rapid FTE growth, this role will play a key role in ensuring that the firm is equipped to meet both current and future talent needs. Anticipate that this role will need a administrative support in the future and appropriate investments (both people and tools) will be made as and when they are required

 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Act as the primary HR contact for Team Leads and senior management, providing guidance on staffing, performance, employee relations, and organisational development.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers, supporting them in the resolution of HR issues, ensuring policy adherence, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify staffing needs and support and/or manage the hiring process, working closely with external agencies.
  • Support leaders in managing performance and performance related issues.
  • Working with the Learning and Knowledge Manager, identify skill gaps and implement development programs to support career growth and enhance retention.
  • Partner with leadership to drive change, align initiatives with firm goals, and support leadership and succession planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR process efficiency, with a focus on scalability and growth.
  • Advise on compensation strategy, benefits programs, and compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure policies are up-to-date and compliant with laws; provide manager training on best practices.
  • Use HR metrics to support decision-making, identify trends, and report on key HR initiatives to senior leadership.
Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or related field. HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, etc.) preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a business partner or generalist role, ideally in a professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and staff across all levels.
  • Demonstrable experience in a fast paced, high growth environment, able to identify and drive change.
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex issues.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and HR data analysis tools.
