This role works closely with regional and operations managers, and their teams, to lead WHS meetings, training sessions, and initiatives. The position will involve regular travel to all regions to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements is consistently met.
Description
- Conducting regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures that align with industry standards.
- Providing expert advice on health and safety matters to management and staff, promoting best practices across all levels of the organisation.
- Lead and manage medical compliance of employees in accordance with the relevant legislation, including appropriate management of health records.
- Coordinating training sessions for employees on health and safety protocols, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary knowledge to work safely.
- Investigating incidents, accidents, or near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and other relevant documentation as required by legislation.
- Lead and manage the annual ISO reaccreditation process, including internal and external audits, assisting with the development of documentation and other required tasks.
- Lead and manage the ongoing roll-out and further development of the Safety Culture platform.
- Staying updated on changes in legislation or best practices related to workplace health and safety to ensure compliance within the organisation.
- Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of all operational and client information at all times.
- Participate actively in all relevant meetings, contributing insights and feedback as appropriate.
- Set a positive example by consistently demonstrating safe work practices and behaviours.
- Oversee incident reporting, workers' compensation, and rehabilitation processes.
- Develop and implement the Injury and Rehabilitation Management Policy.
- Manage Rehabilitation & Return to Work coordination, including WorkCover claims.
- Advise staff and management on risk reduction and WorkCover claims.
- Maintain communication with injured workers, medical practitioners, and rehabilitation providers.
- Develop, promote, and implement the Company’s Emergency Management Plan (EMP).
- Coordinate emergency management training in compliance with relevant legislation.
- Maintain and develop SWMS and other relevant safety and environmental management documentation and ensure they are compliant with relevant legislation.
Profile
The ideal candidate is self-driven, requires minimal guidance, and can work autonomously and excels in building relationships and engages well with others,
Must haves:
- 3-4 years of experience in a similar role
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Experience with ELMO, Safety Culture app, or similar platforms
- IOS accreditation knowledge
Job Offer
- $120k base + super (no vehicle provided)
- The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to interstate sites as needed
- $250 travel allowance per night when staying overnight
