As a Senior Analyst/Manager, Indirect Tax, you will play a key role in supporting our clients tax obligations across multiple areas of indirect taxation. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparation, Review, and Lodgement of BAS/GST Returns: You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, review, and lodgement of monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns, as well as assisting in the preparation of related data reports and periodic reconciliations.
  • Indirect Tax Advisory and Compliance: You will provide in-depth advisory services on Australian and foreign GST/VAT matters, ensuring compliance with relevant tax legislation. You will also manage the advisory and compliance for customs duties, excise taxes, and stamp duties, which may include liaising with external advisors or regulators where needed.
  • Withholding Tax Reporting: Overseeing the accurate and timely reporting and compliance for withholding tax obligations, ensuring that Optus adheres to the correct procedures and guidelines.
  • Regulatory Reviews: You will be the point of contact for managing regulator reviews of indirect tax positions. This includes preparing for audits, providing required documentation, and ensuring that responses to regulators are well-supported.

This involves working closely with the finance and technology teams to implement innovative solutions that increase efficiency and accuracy in the tax compliance processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with other internal teams, including finance, accounting, and legal, to ensure the proper application of tax rules, assist with audits, and respond to internal or external inquiries related to indirect taxes.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical expertise in indirect tax to make a real impact in a global, high-performing organisation. You will have the chance to work on complex tax issues, improve operational efficiency, and collaborate across various teams to drive the strategic direction of our clients indirect tax function.
