Client Details

Our client is a global banking and financial services company, headquartered in London, United Kingdom. They provides a wide range of services, including retail banking, commercial banking, investment banking, wealth management, and insurance.

Role Details

The Legal Counsel – Wealth, Private Banking and Regulatory will provide expert legal advice and guidance primarily to the Wealth and Private Banking divisions. In addition, the Legal Council will play a key role in managing legal risk and compliance, offering regulatory advice, and supporting various bank-wide initiatives, projects, and programs. The Legal Counsel will ensure that legal and reputational risks are effectively identified, reported, and mitigated.

Responsibilities;
  • Provide legal advice, guidance, and support on wealth, private banking, and retail banking products.
  • Involved with reporting of legal risk, and spearheading risk management in the Legal Team.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships by acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Ensuring that legal issues are promptly identified and reported.
  • Driving and implementing change by exploring the use of legal design and legal technology.
  • Active involvement in and contribution to regulatory projects.
Profile;
  • Proven experience as an In-house Legal Counsel or Associate-level private practice lawyer, with admission to practice law in Australia.
  • Extensive knowledge of legal matters related to wealth, private banking, and/or retail banking.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including customer-facing terms and conditions, product disclosure statements (PDS), and third-party supplier agreements.
  • Exposure to regulatory matters and investigations is highly advantageous.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment.
